F.A.Q.

I have never had a massage. What should I expect?

Thank you for choosing Aozora for your first massage experience! It is important that you let your therapist know that this is your first massage so they can walk you through the process.

Our therapy sessions are geared to be healing and comfortable and specifically designed for you.

In the room your therapist will discuss your goals for the session, pinpointing troubled areas etc. The therapist will leave the room while you undress to your comfort level. Once you are on the bed and under the sheets, the therapist will re-enter the room and begin.

You may be asked during your session about your overall comfort level with the pressure your therapist exerts. This is to ensure that your visit is professional, pleasant, and beneficial.

Always let your therapist know if you are ever uncomfortable

What should I do to prepare for my massage?
  • Fill out the Aozora Intake Form emailed to you.
  • Go to the restroom before the massage.
  • Warm up your muscles. (ex: Take a warm bath/shower, sit in a sauna, use heat pad/rice pack) Heat allows tense muscles to be worked easier.
  • Do not take pain medicine before massage. Taking pain medicine before a massage often causes your body to not recognize pain when being worked on. This may result in your therapist overworking your muscles.
  • Arrive at least 5 minutes early. This will ensure that your intake form is filled out and will allow your body time to start relaxing before your therapy session.
  • Fill your water bottle. You will need to drink plenty of WATER.
What kind of massage do I need?

Swedish Massage – Uses light to medium pressure to help the body and muscles relax. This is perfect if you are wanting to destress and do not have any injuries or major knots to work out.

Deep Tissue Massage – Uses medium to hard pressure to work deeper in the muscles. Perfect for people with a lot of pain or knots, active lifestyles etc.

What is cupping and would that help me?

We use silicon cups that are suctioned onto specific muscles and left on for a few minutes. This lifts the fascia and helps with pain, inflammation, tension, and increases blood flow to the muscle. It is a great alternative option to a deep tissue massage, especially if you are in a lot of pain.

Cupping is followed up with a massage to work the muscles and help with blood and lymphatic flow.

Finally, it is common to have circular, non-painful bruises for a few days after a cupping session

Does Aozora have a space for couple's massage sessions?

Aozora Wellness in Caldwell, Idaho has a beautiful oasis downstairs for our couple’s massage therapy sessions. A perfect place to be together while you relax.

Will my muscles be sore?

Tense muscles and knots contain lactic acid. Massage causes the release of lactic acid stored in your sore muscles.  This release can cause additional temporary soreness.

To flush the lactic acid, you need to drink extra WATER and move around after the massage. This will help to move that lactic acid into your lymphatic system to eliminated by your body’s waste system and thereby minimize soreness.

Should I Tip After a Massage?

Tips are not required, however we greatly appreciate any monetary tip. You can include your tip with the payment of the massage or bring cash to hand to the therapist.
